If you purchase property in Massachusetts, or, if, like many of my clients, you transfer your property to a trust, you will get one of these in the mail.  Looks official, doesn’t it? Don’t fall for it.  There is a company called “Record Transfer Services” that sends people in to the registries to look for recent deeds and then sends out these letters.  There is absolutely no reason why you need this company’s services.  If you needed a certified copy of your deed, you could order it from the registry yourself.  (If you are my client, I will get the original or a copy of the deed back to you)

Is this a scam?  Well, technically not.  If you order a certified copy of your deed from them, you will get it. But take my advice, and save your money.
